Middle School STEM Day with Cesar Chavez Language Academy

In Spring 2025, we were delighted to pilot our first Middle School STEM Day with Cesar Chavez Language Academy at Santa Rosa Junior College! A collaboration between MESA, SRJC’s Outreach Team, Student Equity Program, and the academic programs of STEM, over 80 students spent the day rotating through science labs conducting hands-on experiments with SRJC professors and students.

Kicking off the day with a powerful address by SRJC President Dr. Angélica Garcia, students learned about the properties of light, synthesized nylon, assembled 3D printed dinosaurs, survived escape rooms by using math, and had intimate experiences with a goat’s lung and plant and animal specimens.
